Spoonbending Party At The Rhine Center - Do These Folks Look Like Hoaxers?

A number of years ago I had the pleasure of speaking with Sally Rhine at the Rhine Center about an anomalous event that happened to me while enjoying an evening of juggling with a buddy and his juggling friends. She recorded my event (perhaps I will tell the story here someday) and I ended up on the mailing list for the Rhine Center.
Here's the Wiki take on The Rhine Center - The Rhine Research Center Institute for Parapsychology (successor to the Parapsychology Laboratory at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and Rhine's later laboratory, the Foundation for Research on the Nature of Man [FRNM]) is a parapsychology research unit that "aims to improve the human condition by creating a scientific understanding of those abilities and sensitivities that appear to transcend the ordinary limits of space and time." The institute is named after its founder J. B. Rhine.
The research that J.B.Rhine did and the data he collected is famous or infamous.

However, regardless of that - the institute continues and seems to be developing an interesting approach and outreach to the public and members. So, in that regard - I bring to your attention that tomorrow night, in Durham, NC. - March 26th - at 7:30 - 9:00 PM - there will be a spoonbending party - this link will tell you more (if it isn't sold out yet) - http://www.rhine.org/events.htm#PSI_Games
More pictures of the last spoonbending party -> http://www.rhine.org/spoonbending.html

So, the topic that Uri Geller made famous and infamous and discredited -- has slowly been making a seeming comeback. Somehow, events are occuring that seem to be outside of the common consensus as to what is possible. Events that describe possible ways of perceiving not generally spoken about. Because if you really think these folks at the top of this page are hoaxers, then, for sure, you are a bigger skeptic than me.

Can bending a spoon be nothing more than the belief in a limited space location that it is possible?

Today's video is a Remote Viewing lecture at Rhine.

  1. Don't know what you'll make of this, Barfy, but it's my sole experience of spoon bending, (for reasons that'll soon become apparent).

I live in Liverpool, (UK) and in the '70s when I was in my mid teens and Geller and spoonbending were at their absolute height I took a Yale brass front door key - knowing full well how difficult it'd be to bend by normal means - and holding it between the palms of my hands began rubbing them back and forth against it.

For about twenty minutes, every time I became aware of a dip or drift in my concentration, I renewed my determination the bloody thing was go'n'o bend before I'd give in; then all of a sudden there was like a kind of incredibly hot, incredibly compact explosion like a white hot phosphor grenade going off between the palms of my hands, the key seemed to expand to an outrageous size (even though it was still trapped between the palms of my hands) and began to wriggling and thrash about like a LIVING eel - except an eel made of solid metal - all the time letting out this hideous bloodcurdling 'silent' shriek of protest.

I was so shocked I actually fell backwards and landed on my arse, dropping the key in the process, only to notice how, when I picked it up, it now had a distinct, soft 'V' shaped bend in it which hadn't been there before.

But also - and this's the reason I never tried it again - I was left with the distinct abiding impression that this poor key'd experienced what I'd done to it as a form of rape.

p.s. I've read that Lujan Matus book, myself -about five times, now - but when I first accidentally stumbled upon its website it read like so-much b*llshit by a Carlos wannabe.

Days and weeks later though I kept encountering these situations where it was nakedly apparent that phrase about people getting their hooks into each other wasn't just a figurative expression; I even caught meself doing it, tryin'o tug people off balance to my personal advantage; and it was always to the accompaniment of these mysterious quotes I couldn't for the life of me place or remember where I'd originally encountered them.

Finally, I remembered that weird website I'd accidentally stumbled on with that absurdly titled book - something about Stalking Parallel Perception; but how could it be that thing? That'd been incomprehensible gibberish! The author'd even given himself a phoney baloney name - Lujan Matus - clearly intended to sucker in the old Castaneda crowd.

But this time, when I went to the site, instead of reading like nonsense, suddenly it made all the sense in the world.

The reason I only bought the book instead of going on one of his courses was because that was all I could afford.

As soon as I can, though, you can bet I'll be hooking up with him, if only to find out if his book can have that monumental an effect on me, then what effect'd meeting him in person have on me?

  2. Borky,

First, thanks for your articulate comment. I really enjoyed you sharing your keybending experience - it fits with my speculation that certain anomalous events may occur within limited spaces with `expectations/intentionalities'. It's cool that your applied a particular method and simply followed thru in your belief structure.

But, what is most interesting to me is how you were affected by Lujan Matus's book. I assure you - I've read all or all but one of the CC books - none of the books by his witches - but - the LM book literally blew me away too. The guy has some devastating insights into `stalking awareness' - and I too could `see' some of the ideas he presents `as a presence'.

One can almost pick the book up and random and begin reading and be blown away by any page. I too am fascinated by what he promises will happen to one if they go onto his retreats.

You know Borky - I intend to do a bigger post on my blog The Heavy Stuff about LM's book as part of a total idea I am developing. That said, IF YOU WANT TO WRITE up your impressions of the book - a book review in a sense - I'd be happy to post it on one of my websites in its entirety. (Do you have a blog?)

Finally, I AM SUSPICIOUS of anyone who has EVERY `feedback on seminars link' NOT WORKING? Very strange. Perhaps he works only on word of mouth by now.

    R.P.
