Sex-deprived Fruit Flies Drink More Alcohol

The experiments, described this week in the journal Science, started with male fruit flies placed in a container with either virgin female flies or female flies that had already mated. While virgin females readily mate and are receptive toward courting males, once they have mated, females flies lose their interest in sex for a time because of the influence of a substance known as sex peptide, which males inject along with sperm at the culmination of the encounter. This causes them to reject the advances of the male flies.

The rejected males then gave up trying to mate altogether. Even when placed in the same cage as virgin flies, they were not as keen to have sex. Their drinking behavior also changed.

When placed by themselves in a new container and presented with two straws, one containing plain food and the other containing food supplemented with 15 percent alcohol, the sexually rejected flies binged on the alcohol, drinking far more than their sexually satisfied cousins whose advances were ... And, yes, more virgins lose their pride at the link - Sex Deprived  = more alcohol.

The lead story today on this A.M.s local news in Atlanta is of some push to ban cellphone usage in cars. Yep, I'm not talking about texting and I'm not talking about non-held cell phones - you see those are covered by simply banning cellphone use in cars. Total banning. NO CELLPHONE USE.

The ponied up reason given by the lame local morning TV team was that was covering this HUGE DEMAND from the public (what, you haven't seen the OWS and other crowds on the streets demanding this?) -- anyway, the reason/justification to our area for this sweeping legislation was that the `Jones/Smith' family lost a family member when someone using a cellphone rammed into them.

Be a good reason to make alcohol illegal again - don't you think? And, perhaps a good reason to make fast food drive thru food illegal in the car, right? And, perhaps those radios are a distraction with all that channel turning? And, certainly, we don't need GOOD sound systems in cars when we are supposed to be concentrated on driving! --- Come to think about it - aren't KIDS in cars too distracting?

Or, since you have seen NO ONE publicly giving any push for a TOTAL ban (which is what this is) -- is this just more of the political BULLSH$T that we have all come to love from our NEVER TOO BIG worthless government and worthless MSM that takes its money via political advertising?

A few nights ago I had a vivid dream in which I saw a man feverishly typing a long and complex computer code to arm a nuclear weapon for detonation. I knew that I had to get out of there before it detonated. I was with a young Chinese woman. I took her by the hand and told her that we had to run for it, that every thousand yards that we could put between ourselves and the nuke detonation would increase the odds of our survival. We ran and ran until we were miles away, and I told her we had to still keep going.


I suppose this is my subconscious' way of telling my conscious mind that the fuse has been lit for nuclear war, and the clock is now ticking.
