Indeed, according to Coin Inflation those Jefferson Nickels (those 1946 to 2014) in your pocket are worth $0.0609 cents right now. Heck, even the common penny dated before 2015 is nearing a real penny in melt value. (Everyone knows those pennies before 1982 are a gold mine worth almost 3 cents now. 2.8 cents.)

How long can such Barfstew go on? After all - the big European money - which pays negative interest rates - still collects big bucks in the American overnight money markets.  That said, it's kinda barfy that the MSM isn't all over the NICKEL story.

 Ever since Barfstew pointed out the absurdity of the CNN 5% death rate from COVID being on their screens 24/7 for month upon month last year https://barfstew.blogspot.com/2020/05/cnns-absurd-covid19-death-rate.html - despite anyone with common sense knowing otherwise - there has always been the 'unspoken' about COVID. Be it the straight out censorship of the unmentionable that it might have come from a lab rather than a filthy meat market to the pure scare tactic of the Delta variant having "1000 Times" the viral load of the Alpha variant. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-01986-w - why do I say scare tactic? .... Well, was the outcome 1000 times worse - even as the country was opened up? And, isn't it a bit barfstewy that it's unspoken that if DELTA was more infectious...more dangerous.... that it isn't as deadly as Alpha? So that it could be more infectious.... more like a flu..... and doesn't it hold that Omicron, if it's more infections (and able to push out the DELTA version) - must be less deadly in an overall sense? (it's funny that we haven't heard if Omicron has more or less of a viral load than DELTA)  And, it certainly doesn't seem spoken, at least much, that COVID is very much concentrated in taking out the vulnerable - people with prior conditions - or elderly people. Especially those with such conditions who are living in close quarters with multi generations or unrelated people. Implying, endlessly, that all people face equal risk has made the COVID news nearly unwatchable.

This week Reddcoin turned 1 year old and members of Reddcointalk and the Reddcoin subreddit lined up to offer their best wishes to the infant cryptocurrency.

With the amount of development work that has gone into the project it is quite easy to forget how very young Reddcoin is. To put things in perspective it is worth taking a quick look at a couple of other currencies, starting with Bitcoin.

Bitcoin - 1st birthday 3 January 2010

Although the Bitcoin Whitepaper was published by Satoshi Nakamoto on 31 October 2008, it was not until 3 January 2009 that the first block of the blockchain - the genesis block - was mined by Satoshi. The first Bitcoin transaction took place on 12 January 2009, between Satoshi Nakamoto and American cryptographer Hal Finney.

On 5 October 2009 the first Bitcoin exchange rate was published byNew Liberty Standard. By calculating the cost of electricity used to generate Bitcoins the rate was set at $1 per 1,309 BTC, making 1 Bitcoin worth less than a tenth of a cent.

On 10 October 2009 the first online chat was set up for Bitcoin when the Bitcoin-dev channel was registered on freenode IRC. Over the course of 2009, before Bitcoin became 1 year old, versions 0.1 and 0.2 of the Bitcoin wallet were released.

And besides the above, nothing much happened. Of course Bitcoin was a new concept that no-one knew about, but it is still striking to see how it all began. To push the point home, the famous 10,000 BTC pizza was not bought until Bitcoin was nearly one and a half, on 22 May 2010!

Euro - 1st birthday 1 January 1999

The Euro was launched on 1 January 1999 in non-physical form (travellers cheques, electronic transfers, banking, etc.) at midnight. At the time of launch the national currencies of participating countries had their exchange rates fixed to one another, as a way to implement unified monetary policy. The Euro did not actually get its own physical notes and coins until three years later, on 1 January 2002.

It appears that even a fiat currency like the Euro was not immune to what cryptocurrency enthusiasts would refer to as a “pump and dump”. Buoyed by high expectations and plenty of optimistic expert opinion, on the first day of trading (5 January) the Euro climbed to US$1.19 as it was rapidly adopted by traders. However the Euro dropped to parity with the dollar by the end of the year, a 16% drop in value that may not seem much compared with cryptocurrency... but it was enough to spur emergency action from the G7 to set up support for the European currency in 2001.

Reddcoin was launched at a time when the cryptocurrency scene was blooming following the huge mainstream attention paid to Bitcoin at the end of 2013. One year on and the majority of the diverse cryptocurrency projects set in motion in 2014 have faded away and been resigned to crypto-history.

Thanks to its team and dedicated community Reddcoin is one of the few projects that continues to forge ahead with innovation and promise for the future.

Do Morons Rule Coin Marketplace?

I've been calling this the `wild west days' in bitcoin/alternative coin trading... and have good reasons... which all already know in the bitcoin trading realm.... but bear repeating. And Repeatings..... For example, as already pointed out in this blog ... the ESportsCoin... a coin I had profited from but THEN looked abit deeper into the `information available' about the coin... only to find that IT SEEMINGLY WAS DEAD ... NO WEBSITE... NO DEVELOPER... TRASHED IN THE FORUMS AS A SCAM.... ETC. And, then came the Bittrex trading frenzy about a week ago when it became one of the HOTTEST coins of all (how could it not be called out at THAT point)? Does NO ONE do their homework on the info? Is the INFO that meaningless as far as `trading' a coins virtual value? Do Morons Rule?

It sure seems that way as over 30 BTC was traded on Dec. 21st -- at Bittrex... with soaring prices. This is the chart of the past two Weeks. .... Soon, I will cover another coin presumed dead to only see HUGE spikes in investment in the exchange community.... hmm.... go west young man go west. Or is that too big of a hint.

Today's post will mainly be links that I've run across or used on this excursion into Bitcoin and related currencies. But, the first update is that 0.157 Bitcoin Value in the Dental Floss Tycoon account is 0.139 value as the hoped for BOOM in the `pot coin' names after the legalization voting on November 4th didn't occur. That said, they did come back some yesterday and I haven't dumped the position much at all yet. And indeed, the PotCoin is actually UP fairly significantly. Must be the strange names like Ganja that spooked the crowd. I did sell at a profit most of my position in ExclusiveCoin (something I will definitely follow closely). I'll review more of that and more in detail in an upcoming post.

The first indications are that the shift to Bitcoin coverage is going well - with more direct usage of those posts than usual (being shared?). Obviously I am offering the old Barfstew format and the new BS Gallery format so that does cover some bases too. Sadly, so far, only 5 of you have been smart enough to sign up for the FREE Bitcoins - Daily..... I know that it is strange for a business plan to begin with giving away money.

I have a good buddy who is a poet of sorts and is quite of the `aware' type of individual - who IMO - on occasion is able to link into special dream states where he can `visit' with close friends who have passed...... so.. I get a call yesterday and am told by the poet that it was the 10 year anniversary of our mutual close friends death and that he had dreamed of him last night..... and of course I was intrigued.

Now the poet goes into a super aware state within the dream and tells our friend that it is the 10th anniversary of his death.... now.. let me back up just a bit... in the scene is ALSO each of the friends sisters............. except that they don't LOOK like their sisters... the poet simply knows that that is who is there with them..... And, as our friend is told of the 10th anniversary of his death he denies the (15th) date and said instead... no, it was the 25th.... to which the poet challenged him.... and was told that `to see why the 25th was correct' that he should go into `that room' which was behind the poet and was being pointed to.

As the poet went into the room it was more transformed into a gymnasium type of room with pullout bleachers.... and there... kinda behind a table in front of the bleachers was each of the guys sisters.... dressed in Cheerleader Outfits (both these women are in their 60's)....... And then the `hint' may have caught my attention... `death' is like `going from room to room - and finding the furthest reaches of what could have been possible and are possible within the death consciousness state'. A state which probably deals with Doppelgangers of all sorts - including the poet and our friend, now `dead' 10 years.

RIP or hang out until we get there!

The absurdity of suggesting that insurers, previous to Obamacare, were selling `sub-standard' insurance to people who DIDN'T HAVE TO BUY IT AND WERE SATISFIED with their coverage - (let alone the idea that the insurers themselves were NOT making money on the plans) is total BS -- The Barfstew. Obviously there was a market and demand for the product.... just another part of the rhetoric unchallenged by our beyond worthless MSM.

A Rant About The Plunging Housing Starts

As a near daily listener to CNBC, with the assumption that they are less political than other stations, as MONEY wants `truthful' information to trade upon - the other day I was once again struck by how out of touch some of the analysts are. But, IF the Republican philosophy is full of crap... they will say it.... we all know the Democrat agenda is full of crap... and they will say it. But, that said, it is `funny' in a sad way that many of the commentators simply do not have a clue as to what is really happening in our society. Why folks are living at home, delaying relationships and kids.

Case in point... there was an analyst on talking about why the plunge in new housing starts was going to be overcome "when we get back to home creation of 2007 levels". He literally didn't KNOW that those days WILL NEVER RETURN as he lives in - most likely - a neighborhood unaffected by the Crash of 2008. Here - let me clue him in to one middle, upper middle class neighborhood (great schools for Ga) in one of the overbuilt cities (read involved in fraud) in America - Marietta Georgia...... In this neighborhood of a short street and 2 cul-de-sacs --17 homes.... FIVE went belly up eventually - all occupied by long time owners - foreclosed.... empty.... NONE had ever been empty in the past. (Three are still empty and for RENT).

These folks know that the SHRINKING white population and the knowledge that the illegals will not be buying homes (the only segment that may be growing again) - in combination with the debt load for the young generation... guarantees that for a formally middle class young adult... about the only way they will ever save 20% for a downpayment... is NEVER - and that the only way they will `own' a home (let alone a new one) is to `inherent' their parents home.

There is NO need for NEW HOMES in America and the upper class, even analysts whose job it is to know,  hasn't even figured that out yet. The BS continues.
